i need help…. i am trying to compress a .wav file because i want to set a ringtone for my nokia 5310… but my file size is 2MB and i need it to be around 200kB… i have no idea how to use audacity, does anyone know what to do?

Try this:
1) open audacity
Press OK
2) Using File | Open select the wav file
3) Click on the down arrow next to the X you can see on the right hand side of the sound graph and select “set sample format” and change it to 16 bit
4) from the same place select “set rate” and change it to 8000Hz
5) Then click on Edit | Preferences
6) Click on “File Formats” tab
7) Change “Uncompressed File Format” to WAV microsoft 8 bit.
9) Click on File | Export as WAV… in a new location.
This should produce a .wav file that is considerably smaller.
Don’t forget next time you use Audacity you need to put these settings back to their default.
