Ans to ur ques:
Try all the features of handsets within a few hrs of buying it. Nokia Priority dealer told me that if the piece is has manufacturing defects, it will be replaced hand-to-hand within 24 hrs. So test it exhaustively during first 24 hrs…
There’s nuthin to beware of – just that the seal of the box should be intact.
You can easily activate the cam in the normal mode. Nokia deliberately kept the sounds on so that spy shots can be prevented. I encourage this and see no point in turnng them off.
Base your buying decisions on the features you require out of your phone and the budget you have.
My Exp:
bought 1 on 14th Sep… am bit disappointed. It heats up during the call big time – nokia priority dealer claims this is the 1st ever complaint he recd.
Headphones rock! but u’d need better hardware to listen to their capabilities. Nokia marketed it as a serious music phone, which unfortunately it is not. Loudspeakers are awesome… but they’ve started cracking even at medium volume.
The twist function is nice and sturdy… many redundant controls are provided which will effectively keep u from twisting to music mode. The cam is okay-ish. Indoor shots suck while the ones in decent lighting/outdoors r decent.
I bought this phone for its balance of features and price. Maybe I was expecting too much. My earlier experience was the first Nokia N-Gage, which unfortunately still has way better sound than nokia 5700. I do think a few rounds at nokia care will solve my issues… but being a serious audiophile, i am a bit disappointed. I expected Nokia to stick up to their claims.
NOTE: If u haven’t noticed, 1 -ve n 1 +ve point have been thrown alternatively
Pros:
Large screen
Video stand mode
Headsets
Loudspeakers
Unlimited Call recording facility (useful while taking imp info on call)
Comfortable keypad
Texting in multiple lang
3G
Balanced Price
Stereo Widening on loudspeakers gives ultimate sound.
Availability of s/w
Battery conserving modes
Auto keylock
Cons:
Phone restarts at will even with latest firmware.
Cracking in loudspeakers
A bit uncomfortable joystick (N73 has a better one)
Color Combos
Hot pixels in indoor shots.
Joystick is difficult to work with when twisted into cam mode.
Over heating during call (specific to my set)
Better than w830i – 5700 has larger screen, msging in sliders is inherently troublelsome, dubious keypresses, cost, old firmware.
Ya, u should buy it… Its awsome!!!
i own one…
Anyways, u dont have to watch out for anything except for the price range, a little high. After that u rly dont need to watch out for anything.
It is true , u can flip the key pad to face u or wats in front of u. and no it wount make it too obvious cuz its twisty except if u dont take the volume off first cuz they will hear it cuz its got awsome sound system and bass. NO NEED TO HATE IT!
